What is the purpose of the Sun City Poms?
The purpose of our club is to entertain and be ambassadors of good health and fitness. Our motto is “Age is Just a Number.” We hope to inspire mature women (and men) to realize growing older sometimes open doors to new, exciting adventures. We perform before various audiences, ranging from assisted living facilities to high schools assemblies. We have been featured nationally in television, magazines, newspapers, blogs, YouTubes, etc. We have marched in both small, local parades as well as large, national parades.
While we Poms have grown close as we plan, practice, and perform — and we do value the social side of our team — it is our overriding purpose to be out there, being ambassadors, instilling new hopes, new visions, new opportunities for people who might have thought their life pathways were narrowing.
Can I “book” the Sun City Poms to perform at a function?

What are the requirements to become a POM?
Each Pom member must be able, physically and mentally, to meet a certain level of proficiency.
- Dancers and marchers in the Poms must be 55+ years old and reside in Sun City with a valid RCSC card.
- Dance skills of rhythm, agility, poise, energy, and showmanship are required. Acrobatics and baton twirling are a plus, but not required.
- Members are expected to attend meetings, serve on a committee and participate in Pom activities.
Above are the “technical” requirements to become a Pom. The larger view is that the Sun City Poms team is made up of positive minded, giving, supporting, caring women who are willing to put in the behind-the-scenes work to make the performances look effortless. Our goal is to reach out and inspire individuals, whether they are viewing a performance or watching a parade. We do this not by our abilities to perform perfectly, but by our being out there — performing.
