The Poms were honored to celebrate our nation’s veterans by marching in the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade.
November 9, 2022 – The Gardens of Sun City
The Poms enjoyed performing at The Gardens of Sun City to a small but enthusiastic crowd. Steve and Vicki also sang.
November 5, 2022 Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships
The Poms traveled to Scottsdale to perform at this polo event. They were honored to meet Dr. Sian “Leo” Proctor, who, in 2021, became the first African American woman to pilot a spacecraft.
November 4, 2022 Betty Fairfax High School & Sun City Museum
The Poms reformed Uptown Funk twice at the Betty Fairfax High School, and then were swamped with picture requests. After their second performance, they traveled to the Sun City Museum to join a celebration of the Sun City Women’s Softball team that played in the ’80s.
October 31, 2022 American Lutheran Church Homecoming
This was a bit different performance for the Sun City Poms, but they shown brilliantly. The music was being played through the church sound system, and to say it was “sketchy” is a bit mild. But through the cut ins and cut outs, volume problems, and just plain mess-ups musically, the Poms kept the show going and the crowd totally entertained. It was quite emotional to see how many veterans and friends/families of veterans stood up during the Military Medley.
And what might have been the highlight of the performance was when the music system refused to play the Poms’ last number, “God Bless America.” The Poms were on stage, the crowd standing, and the technical support crew was in the back madly plugging and unplugging to no avail. But, out of the crowd, came an accordion player. You read that correctly, an ACCORDION player. He said he could play it and he did a great job, as did the Poms, who had to adjust to his version on the fly. It was truly amazing.
October 20, 2022 Holiday Westgate Village
The Sun City Poms put on a full, 16 act show for the residents of Holiday Westgate Village. Steve Johnson and Sharen Valentine provided some wonderful vocal performances and the Poms danced, danced, danced to a very appreciative audience.
October 18, 2022 Paul’s Carwash
The Sun City Poms were excited to once again support the annual “Paul’s Carwash,” a week-long televised celebration of the Big Brothers Big Sisters community.
October 15, 2022 – Billy Moore Parade
Well, we tried to march in this parade, but alas, can you believe it, a storm rolled through and caused the parade to be cancelled. We didn’t find out about the cancellation until we had already gathered at the Sun Bowl. So, we took advantage of the rainbow background and took a few pictures before leaving.
October 8, 2022 – Tolleson Parade
Sun City Poms marched in Tolleson today. First parade for many new members!! We decided to have our husbands join the fun today!! Husbands were our banner carrier and back row and parade car driver and music!!
October 7, 2022 – Cactus High School
Sun City Poms love performing at high schools! Queen of Hearts is the principal! Great fun like this NEVER happened in my day! Retirement + Sun City = Active seniors living and loving life!
September 30, 2022 – Cortez High School
Thank you, CORTEZ HIGH SCHOOL! The Poms were happy to perform today at their first high school performance of the year at Cortez High School in Phoenix. What an amazingly energetic and receptive audience we had. So much fun!!

The Poms are back and looking forward to a new year of fun and activity!The club kicked off the season by performing at Royal Oaks Lifecare Community, one of our loyal sponsors. We were delighted to share in a special celebration held for several of their 100 year old residents.
August 4, 2022 – Poms featured on ABC’s Good Morning America 3
Peggy and Greta were the “stars” of a segment on Good Morning America 3 (GMA3). The segment, airing nationally here in the US, gave a brief, glowing overview of the Sun City Poms. Great job ladies.
July 10, 2022 – The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition 2022 Rejuvenate Retreat
On July 10 the Poms performed two routines at The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition 2022 Rejuvenate Retreat held at Boulders Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. We were honored to spend time with such an amazing group of women.

We are excited to share a recent video of a live broadcast aired by Seven Network in Australia yesterday on The Morning Show. Two of our treasured members were interviewed, via Zoom, by the hosts of The Morning Show.
July 4, 2022 – Sun City “Ring That Bell” Ceremony
The Sun City Poms joined hundreds of their fellow Sun City residents at the 44th Annual “Ring That Bell” Ceremony on July 4. Our thanks to the Recreation Centers of Sun City for including us in their beautiful and moving program.

What an honor to perform yesterday, June 24, 2022, in Scottsdale at the Ladies Luncheon, held as part of the 2022 Reunion of the 173rd Airborne Brigade of Vietnam Veterans. Many thanks to them for their invitation and most importantly, our heartfelt thanks to our veterans and their families, for their service to our country. Also, we would like to acknowledge Morning Reveille and Miss Pinup AZ for including us in the photoshoot with the amazing photographer Julian Illescas, at Lunatic Lens Studio.

April 9, 2022 – The Sun City Poms cheered the survivors and caregivers at the Relay for Life celebration at Centennial High School on April 9. We also entertained the attendees with three routines.
April 1, 2022 – Our first high school assembly performance in over two years happened April 1 at Ironwood High School. We are thrilled to be back performing in high schools. The energy and enthusiasm of a high school audience can’t be beat!

February 12, 2022 – What a fantastic parade last Saturday in Wickenburg! The crowd was truly amazing. Our military routine, which honors all branches of our Armed Services, was well received. Many veterans stood and took their hats off as we marched by. People were cheering so loudly it was difficult to hear our music. All the marchers were moved by the response of the crowd. Thank you Wickenburg and all who support us!
